His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios awarded Ted Apostoleris the Gold Medal of St. Paul. The Gold Medal of St. Paul is the highest honor a layperson can receive in the Greek Orthodox faith. It is also very unusual that this award was made at the Chapel of St. Paul located in the Archdiocese facility in New York.
His Eminence elected to bestow this honor because of the services and contribution to the Greek Archdiocese of America where he has significantly reduced their cost for telecommunication and computer network services. His Eminence cited that the Archdiocese of America has been positioned to save $13,000 monthly in reduced costs and has saved the combined savings of over $600,000 for the Archdiocese of America since 1995.
He noted that Ted is rebuilding the infrastructure for telephone, computers networking, and Internet ministries as well as positioned the Archdiocese to be in the next generation of technology. He also cited that Ted has begun connecting the Archdiocese for these services to St. Basil's Academy, and to Hellenic College.
In the future, Ted will be assisting the Archdiocese in connecting all of the Diocesan locations with telephone/computers networking and video conferencing over one IP network throughout the United States to the Archdiocese of America.
